Gerry qualified as a physiotherapist from the University of Ulster (Jordanstown) in 1996. After working for several years in the health service and in private practice, he opened the Dunshaughlin Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in 2002.
Over the past 2 decades, Gerry has grown the clinic into a centre of excellence in muscular skeletal therapy. In addition to clinical direction, Gerry now dedicates his time to ensuring all of his staff develop the same level of expertise in MSK and in the expert treatment of back, neck and shoulder pain, as well as branching out into their own preferred specialisms.
Toby Smith, BSc Physiotherapy, MISCP
Chartered Physiotherapist
I am currently working to earn qualifications in Pilates and Strength &
Conditioning and I bring a broad understanding of exercise and its role
in treating and preventing injuries. I have gained experience in a
variety of settings, working with professional dancers and footballers
in a sports clinic in London, to more recently working in a large
step-down facility in Beaumont, where I treated a variety of
orthopaedic, neurological and respiratory conditions. I have worked
with both acute injuries and more chronic pain, and manage both with a
mixture of hands-on manual therapy and rehabilitation programs.
Specialism: Neck Pain, Back Pain, Knee and Shoulder Injuries
When I’m not at work, I have a keen interest in athletics so I’ll be
watching the latest competition or out for a run myself. I also enjoy
strength training and yoga, and have competed in a number of obstacle
races.
Otherwise, I’ll be back home in Cavan, out hiking, cooking or with my
head stuck in a good book.
